Hello, folks,

I teach English in Hong Kong, and I'm looking forward to getting to know you through these forums.

I come from Poland and I live in the UK now. I taught English as a Foreign Language in Poland for 11 years. I'm working towards Level 4 ESOL subject specialist qualifications and I'm looking forward to tutoring ESOL and Polish courses in mid-September.

I wonder whether there is a similar saying to this Chinese idiom

"There are cases when a foot (as a unit of measure) is too short,
There are cases when an inch (as a unit of measure) is too long."

in English. The implied meaning is that everyone (everything) has their advantages and disadvantages. I guess it's not same as "One's meat is another's poison." So, if you know, pls provide me an answer. Thanks.
