1. Like many languages, English uses words from other languages.
2. Apart from in Portugal and Brazil, people speak Portuguese in six other countries.

When translated into Chinese, we’ll put the adverb “also” into these two sentences. I’d like to know if it’s also possible to put “also” into these two English sentences like this.

1. Like many languages, English also uses words from other languages.
2. Apart from in Portugal and Brazil, people also speak Portuguese in six other countries.
 
You could say:

People speak Portuguese in Portugal and Brazil. Portuguese is also spoken in six other countries.

I think both #1 and #2 are completely fine. 'Also' may not be strictly needed, but I wouldn't say it's wrong to include it.

Edit: Actually, #2 I think I would remove the first instance of the word 'in', regardless of the 'also' question.
