Grammar by Golitsinskij (ISBN 978-5-9925-0587-0).

The weather was very bad in October. We didn’t enjoy the very cool autumn last
year.

This is from the answer key. As for me, I placed the indefinite article. As if it was just a bad automn. Ok, it was very bad, but it belongs to the class of bad autumns. That is why an indefinite article.

Could you tell me whether I'm wrong or right?

1. We didn’t enjoy the very cool autumn last year.
2. We didn’t enjoy a very cool autumn last
year.

1. It was very cool last autumn.
2. It wasn't very cool last autumn.

Without more context, it's not possible to say exactly what was suggested by the utterances. I have give you a couple of possible interpretations.

You would do better to cite things you have found uttered by native speakers or cited by native-speaking grammarians than use Golitsinskij as your source.

I use everything. Textbooks by native speakers have huge drawbacks as well. For example they can't provide you with execrices for translation from your native language into English.

ps to my last post.

I have a great respect for some writers on English grammar who are not native speakers of English. My bookshelves groan under the weight of works by Borick, Declerck, Elsness, Jespersen, Kruisinga, Poutsma, Christophersen, Maetzner, Sandved, Zandvoort and others. Golitsinskij has rather escaped my notice.

Nonverbis, please note that this doesn't mean that 5jj disagrees with Golitsinskij. He just hasn't seen the author you're referring to.

Last year's autumn is a very definite, specific thing. The cool autumn last year is also a definite thing, in contrast to the cool autumns in 2005 and 2010.
