Here is the context below:from a grammar book

1.I write grammar books. (This sentence
implies that I write grammar books on a regular basis, perhaps as a career.)

Now my question is that here the verb "implies" is the historical present , literary present, gnomic present or habitual present? Can I use present continuous here?

Welcome to the forums, Jay.:-D

'Implies' is the simple present here.

The present continuous would be inappropriate.

Why the present continuous would be inappropriate can you explain pls?

Please note my corrections to your post, and don't use chatroom abbreviations like 'pls'.

Sorry I misunderstood your question. 'This sentence is implying that...' is indeed just fine.

I would be more likely to use implying about spoken language and the present simple for a written sentence, where the implication seems more permanent.
