Is the following sentence correct?

Being in giving an accurate depiction to the crime was because it took place in front of his eyes.


The sentence sounds totally ungrammatical to me. I have never heard the expression 'being in giving'. :-(

I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

The sentence doesn't make any sense at all. Perhaps: "His being able to give an accurate description of the crime, was due to it having taken place in front of his eyes".
