Are there any difference between these sentences?

1- Yesterday I met a man, who is/was a doctor.

2- yesterday I met a woman, who is/was from the UK.

Which verb from should I use?

[STRIKE]Hi teacher,[/STRIKE] If the person continues to be a doctor, which [STRIKE]from[/STRIKE] form should I use?

You can use either one even if they are still a doctor. If they were no longer a doctor, you would say "Yesterday, I met a man who used to be a doctor".

Is my second sentence also correct? Which verb form should I use if the woman still lives in the UK?

I'd delete the comma from both of those sentences.
