A few ferrules "up your sleeve" would be handy, but I wouldn't recommend a few "ferals" up your ferrule/sleeve!:lol:

Very good! They do sound like homonyms from the pronunciation I checked....

Out of curiosity I googled "ferrule cat" and got 595 results!

It took many attempts to work out the spelling of "feral"!

I'd heard it before on wild-life programmes, but normally in the context of a non-indigenous species that was threatening the livelihood of the native species (such as the grey squirrel vs red squirrel in the UK).

I hadn't thought of Googling for a ferrule cat, but when I did, it instantly recognised that I meant "feral" and gave me 3.9MM results!

I should try this! But where would I find a saguaro cactus in the middle of Toronto?

Kensington/Chinatown?
You'd at least find a knockoff. ;-)

(apocryphal -word of the day )

Not a teacher.

Best part of your post highlighted in red. Made me laugh out loud!

I might have to go Honest Ed's tomorrow in search of a saguaro cactus...

Most students of history know that the defenestration of Slavata and Martinitz and their secretary was one of the seminal events leading to the Thirty Years War.

Yes, indeed. Another seminal event in Czech history was the deforestation of the Prague castle that resulted from the defenestration of Christmas trees. True story. Right now there's not a single Christmas tree to be found inside the castle.
