I have to disagree. The word meme is one of the more useful "new words" used by "kids these days".

As Jutfrank said, the original meaning of meme as proposed by Richard Dawkins, who coined the word, was much more useful and interesting than the current meaning that the Internet has assigned to the term. Given its current actual meaning I think meme is a word we can easily live without.
