She poured herself some coffee. It was a lonesome winter night, as if all the coldness and loneliness from an arctic tundra were sneaking up her room.

Two things. One, the QM was trying to sneak away. (I often use "Perhaps:" to introduce something.) Two, I considered "sneak" also, but it didn't appeal to me.

I never regarded cold or rain or wind as sneaky before.
