Surale pronunciation

Can you please tell me how to pronounce Surale, a character of Take Pity by Bernarld Malamud?

It's not a name I'm familiar with so I can't answer it. Unless it's a common name in another language, you would have to ask the author how he intended it to be pronounced.
Note that you misspelt the author's first name - it's Bernard.
I looked the book up online and it says it's about Polish and American cultures but the name Surale doesn't appear in the précis I read. It doesn't sound like a Polish name to me. It sounds more Indian. I would probably read it as "Suh-rah-lay" but that could be completely wrong.
