"such bad weather"v.s."so bad weather"

I wonder if you could give me some tips on the following sentences:
It's such bad weather that we have to stay at home all day.
It's so bad weather that we have to stay at home all day.

The first sentence is ok. yet the second one is a bit strange. Some english teachers around me support that in the second sentence, the word "the" should be inserted between "bad" and "weather". what's your opion?
My second question is: in "such... that....."structure, if such is followed by an uncountable noun, could "such" be replaced by "so"?

No it shouldn't, "bad" is just describing "weather", it doesn't make it countable.

The author is not a grammarian. That is the only explanation I can come up with.

whitemoon, the first sentence of the link you provided should have set off several red flags for you: 'Nowadays the changes of whether made us need to be careful when we are driving.' The article is riddled with mistakes. ;-) How many other mistakes can you find?

But I am still a little confused by it. Isn't "so" in "It was so bad weather that we stayed at home all day" a connector? Besides this "so" is followed by an ajective "bad". This sentence just seems to be ok grammatically.

Native English speakers wouldn't say "It was so bad weather..." they would say "It was such bad weather..."

In the second sentence the subject is "the weather".

However, you can change "such+adj+noun+that" sentence pattern into "so+adj+that" sentence pattern.

as in 'so bad a boy'. I mentioned it some posts ago. From what bhaisahab says I understand it's not applicable here.

'He was such a bad boy!' is correct. We would never say 'so bad a boy'! ;-)
