Is this idiom still used in BrE? (Is it a euphemism?) Any other idioms meaning the same? Ta!

It's still in use (I think). It's a euphemism for having sex. There are many other less polite euphemisms for it.
 
I haven't heard it for a long time.

I never thought it meant having sex - more like heavy petting, nookie, rumpy-pumpy, groping etc.
