Google "tips for writing a precis" and you should find some useful advice.
Thanks. Actually I am confused about indirect form. Either we should change the tense of original passage while making precis as indirect speech requires or write the same tense which the passage already have.

The way I see it is they want you to tell the reader what the author of the piece said without quoting from the original.
