Object of preposition

Or maybe 'above' is acting like a noun.
 
I think you can consider anything after a preposition to be acting as a noun, then things will be much simpler, but I am not a teacher.

There are some adjectives and adverbs as object of preposition. I think there is also interjection that is object of preposition.
