I learnt that it is grammatically wrong to say 'MY first time' and that it should be 'THE first time' instead. Unfortunately I see and hear a lot of people use 'MY first time doing this...' and I cringe and correct them. However, I can not recall why it's grammatically wrong. Can someone in here please refresh my memory? Thanks.

It's not. And if your native language were English, you would know this. Please correct your profile information.

That phrase is not wrong or ungrammatical.
See, for example:

What made you think it's wrong?
If I remember very well, my teacher for English (that’s like 4 decades ago) meant it was wrong to use a possessive pronoun for time but rather say, for example ‘ it is the first time that I am flying’ as opposed to ‘it’s my first time to fly’. 🤷🏼‍♀️. That’s really all I remember and I guess I just accepted it. Apparently I am not the only one that had it wrong all this time😅. Wish I could ask my old teacher why but he’s probably deceased now.😅. Anyway, thank you for your contribution.
