Is 'dammit' a very bad word?

I want a character to say 'Show yourself, dammit'. This is a character that is never supposed to use bad language (for reasons I cannot state here). So, does 'dammit' count as a real swearing? If it does, what do I replace it with?

Not to me- it is a mild blasphemy.

Still, it wouldn't look right to me on the lips of a character who never swears. The usual replacement is darn it!
