Have you looked at English Banana? I found it useful on the rare occasions that I taught kids.

Also "I spy with my little eye" for nouns and the names of colours.

How about "Animal, Vegetable or Mineral"? Simply say to your son "I'm thinking of an animal", for example, and he has to ask you questions to work out which animal. However, he can ask only closed questions (you are only allowed to answer "Yes" or "No"). It's good to help him produce interrogatives and helps with vocabulary because he needs to keep coming up with new questions.
