I talked about my itching eyes with my friend Lucy today. She said after her daughter had recovered from Covid, she has become allergic to strawberries. She had no problem eating strawberries before. I’m considering whether I should do an allergy test to see what would irritate me.

It doesn't seem like your conversation with Lucy was about your "itching eyes".

It was. My itching eyes were caused by allergies. It reminded her of her daughter.

See above.

I would omit "has" and simply say she became allergic to strawberries.
