cord or code?

Some Koreans say to their spouse "I can' live with you as we don't have same cord(code)" or about their coworkers ""I can' work with him or her(I'm incompatible with him or her) as we have different cords(codes)"

I'm curious if Koreans misuse cord or code. What do you think?

I'm curious to know how you write "cord" and "code" in Korean(Hangul).
They are exactly the same in Japanese - they're written as "コード".

We have the same pronunciation for both same as yours. 코드
 
"cord" doesn't make much sense in your context, does it? What do you think?

It seems odd to me.
 
They are not homophones in English. And it seemed to confuse the Korean poster.
 
I wasn't a bit confused as Korean and Japanese are cousins from the same root.
 
Having different code/cord sounds strange to refer to two people being incompatible.
Do you mean something like genetic code?
Having vastly different characters would make people incompatible.
 
Two people having different sets of rules does not sound right either.
 
I think it sounds more plausible than 'genetic code', but I am not a teacher.
 
"Chord" makes more sense than either of the other two.
 
Maybe Koreans meant chord - harmony tone, it's more convincing. If two people don't make harmony, their relationship will break up.

We do say "we're always/never on the same wavelength." We also say "we need to make sure we're on the same page" for individual areas.
 
It is easier for two people with the same wavelength to strike a chord with each other.
