Have a problem I need to throw out here!

I am in dire need of a complete syntactic analysis of the following sentence:

For Americans, the issue encapsulates a major fault line in their society


I am studying on a Norwegian university, English grammar. I have been very ill for many weeks, unable to do anything, spending most time in hospital. I am therefore behind on some work, and while I have been able to do very much, I have not been able to get a grip on THIS PARTICULAR TASK!

A tree-diagram would be much appreciated, but not necessary!

We don't do homework or assignments.
 
Syntax is often equated with the study of sentence structure even though the things we analyze may not always be complete sentences . Such a complete syntactic analysis turns out to be necessary in order to avoid mismatching parts of the sentence .
