Sometimes, when you are tired or nervous, you blink with more force than usual. How can I describe that?

Is there a word for that? Do I need an adverb?

When you blink, you open shut your eyes quickly. How can you do that with force?

Sometimes, you put your upper eyelids on lowers ones with more force than usual. This could be because you are tired or nervous or your eyes are dry.

That's not blinking. A blink is a quick movement.

And I can't think of a word for closing your eyes hard. Looks like we've managed without it for centuries!

We have wink and bat, but neither of those fit. Scrunch? Hm.
