Singular and plural mimes

Instructions for teachers

Cut up one set of cards per class or per group of two to four students, with the singular and plural forms separated from each other. There are two games which can be played with those cards.

Singular and plural miming guessing game

The teacher or a student takes a card and mimes interacting with that thing or those things until someone correctly describes what they chose. To practise spelling, you could also ask them to write their guesses down. For example, if someone mimes juggling, their partners should race to say and/ or write “balls”. You could also insist on full sentences like “They are balls”.

Singular and plural miming race

The teacher or a student writes up and/ or says what is on their card and gives points for the first person to mime the right thing and/ or gives points for the best mime to represent that thing or those things, e.g. the best mime of drawing with two different pencils for “(They are) pencils”.
