Passive voice key word sentence transformations

Cambridge First Use of English Part Four

For questions 20-32, complete the second sentence so that it has a similar meaning to the first sentence, using the word given. Do not change the word given. You must use between two and five words, including the word given.

All the answers should be in the passive voice. Use the examples to make a rule for forming the passive voice and as many different forms of that as possible, then use that to check your answers.

If your teacher tells you to, name the different passive voice forms (tenses etc). Some forms have more than one example.

Match them to these names, then check that they follow the right pattern to match that name:

  • Future Passive
  • Modals plus passive
  • Passive infinitive
  • Passive Present Participle
  • Past Continuous Passive
  • Past Perfect Passive
  • Past Simple Passive
  • Present Continuous Passive
  • Present Perfect Passive
  • Present Simple Passive

Check with the answer key, then use that to check your rule and example patterns of passive voice.
