Yeah, I did, not the last time I went back, but the time before that.

Have you taken the Moscow subway rail? I say:

Yeah, I did, not the last time I went back, but the time before that(last visit).

How do you express the visit before your previous visit?

The last but one visit, or The last visit but one.

The last but one visit, or The last visit but one.

I have never heard that in my whole life! And I read a lot of English books and watch a lot of English shows. We sure do learn something new everyday!

Is that the only way of saying it or are there other ways?

"The visit before last."

I am not a teacher.

Have you ever read or heard 'penultimate'?

"Penultimate" is a good word, but I don't think a lot of native speakers know it. "The visit before last" would work.

"The visit before last" would work.

Yes, it would but bhai already suggested that. It's just that the question was, "Is that the only way of saying it or are there other ways?" and the answer is yes, there are other ways, such as, "Yeah I did, on my penultimate visit."

I like "the visit before last". To my AmE ears, The last but one visit, and The last visit but one sound strange.
