Writing email to boss regarding appraisal rating

I would like to inform my boss that the appraisal rating that i have received is disappointing me. I already had a discussion through call and I would like to send it through email also. I need his help to change my appraisal rating.

As Discussed, I have a concern on my Appraisal rating. The rating I have received is really disappointing me. I have done my best work and my performance was outstanding and attractive to both employees and management. I have expected a better rating that this. I need your help to get a fair rating for me. Kindly do needful.

There are so many social and cultural factors in play here that I don't think anyone can give you a good answer without more context.

So for example, in Canada, where I live, if you worked in a call centre I would think your email was a pretty good idea. If, on the other hand, you were an apprentice surgeon that email would be disastrous.
