What is meant by this word: "It stood like a huge writhing wall between us and the horizon?"

It means
moving in a twisting or snake-like fashion

It means
movinginatwistingorsnake-likefashion

Did you really find it written like that in a dictionary? There are no spaces between the words. Please edit your post so it's readable.

'Snake-like' is interesting. Google 'serpentine wall'.

PS I did, just to check.

The word writhing suggests motion to me. Walls don't move, so serpentine wall makes more sense to me.
