Across Afghanistan, the International Committee of the Red Cross said thousands had been wounded in the fighting. Security forces and politicians handed over their provinces and bases without a fight, likely believing the two-decade Western experiment to remake Afghanistan would not survival the resurgent Taliban. The last American troops had planned to withdraw at the end of the month.

Should "would not survival the resurgent Taliban" be "would not survive the resurgent Taliban"?

"Survive". Right. The survival of the western experiment was highly unlikely.

That's not a language answer- we don't discuss politics here, but we do discuss the language around it. This is a question about a verb or noun, while your answer is an opinion.

I believe it was just a typo or a careless error that the editor failed to notice. The sentence parses with "would not survive" but not with " would not survival". That would be just nonsensical.

The internet is full of such errors in news items- it's a consequence of rolling 24/7 news.
