wish you listened

Hi,

Let's say that my child is running around the table in the room, and I don't want him to do that, so I say:

1-I wish you listened to me.
2-I wish you would listen to me.

I'd definitely say the second one, but I cannot be sure of the first one. I think the first one might be said something in general, like, 'I wish people listened to me'.

You're right. That's the correct one to express annoyance.

but I cannot be sure of the first one. I think the first one might be said something in as a general comment, like, 'I wish people listened to me'.
You're right. However, I can't think of many contexts in which you'd say that sentence.
