I want to say a person was angry in a situation. They wanted to speak but at the same time kept their voice down.

Can I say whisper-scream?

Her wife opened the door and walked in. "The children are asleep, honey," he said.

"What the hell is your boss doing in our house," she whisper-screamed.

I don't like it. I think you can come up with a better way of expressing that.

I think you've mixed up some of your gender references, if he's talking to his own wife.

Regarding the question at hand - I can't think of a term at the moment, although whisper-scream, whisper-shout, and whisper-yell all do come up on sites like Urban Dictionary, but that doesn't mean they're widely used or established.

There's also a stage whisper, although that isn't a perfect fit for this context. Perhaps just an 'angry whisper' or an 'aggressive' whisper'?
