[Grammar] Which is correct, "the car needs 'fixing' or 'to be fixed'"?

1. The car needs fixing.
2. The car needs to be fixed.
Which one sounds more correct to you? Or are both OK?

I would say "The car has to be fixed'

2. The car needs to be fixed.
