I wonder if the two sentences are the same or not? which one is correct or both of them? Please help me out. Thank you in advance.:-D

1. Whereas a gas expends uniformly in all directions, a vapor remains somewhat more concentrated.
2. Whereas a gas expends in a uniformly manner in all directions, a vapor remains somewhat more concentrated

A gas expands uniformly, or in a uniform manner. If you fix those two errors, both sentences will be correct.

"Expands," not "expends." And "in a uniform manner." "Uniform" is an adjective. "Uniformly" is an adverb.

The first sentence is better. The second uses more words to say the same thing.
