I want to say me and another person have different tastes in food. Can I use "as different as night and day"?

Is this okay?

When it comes to food, my wife and I are as different as night and day. She likes Indian foods while I hate them.

We wouldn't normally pluralize "food" that way. For example, I might say, "I like Italian food." Or "I like Chinese food."
