I want to express the idea that a car's headlights pierce the night. Can I use "streak"

Is this correct and natural?

A truck appeared in the distance. It bounced on the road as it came closer to use, its headlights streaking the empty night.

Sure! You could also use:

- brightening
- illuminating
- piercing
- revealing
- slashing
- slicing
