Welcome to the board.

What's the difference between "hungry" and "starving"?

Thanks in advance. ;-)

'Starving' means 'very hungry' - to the point of death in extreme circumstances.

I am not a teacher, but here are my two cents ;)

hungry
-> lack or insufficiency of food (or something else ) for a short period of time) e.g. I feel hungry, because my last meal was before 24 hours.

starving -> lack or insufficiency of food (and usually other material things) for a long period of time . For example:
People in many parts of Africa are starving for decades.

Hungry can not be used as verb.

Example:

She hungred/ied to death. <- This is wrong

Starve can be used as verb.

Example:

She starved to death. <- This is OK
