What is this called in American English if it's used for the storage of water?

Either just a 'jug', 'water container', 'water can' (short for water canister) or possibly a 'jerry can', although jerry cans don't have a stopcock.

Originally jerry cans were for for fuel, but the term carried over for other liquids.
