Thank you for this useful website. Here, i would like you to help me to find meaning of ball of credit , i have to translate Persuasion novel by Jane Austen. And this is text "Thirteen winters’ revolving frosts had seen her opening every ball of credit which a scanty neighbourhood afforded, and thirteen springs shewn their blossoms, as she travelled up to London with her fa- ther, for a few weeks’ annual enjoyment of the great world."Many thanks,Maryam

I thought it was like a line of credit, but more round. :-D

Aha! So Jane Austin invented revolving credit! Who knew?
