what does it mean? "It's not my kind of thing."

While I was reading a list of gap fillers and conversation links, I came across this "I mean........isn't my kind of thing at all." Could you please kindly tell mean if it means:
1. I'm not interested in it; It's not my cup of tea.
2. I don't have enough information about it, in other words I'm not that much skillful.

PS. Can we say "it's not my type of thing as well?"

1 is the typical meaning of that statement. I guess 'type' could work in that sentence as well. It doesn't sound too obtrusive when I say it to myself.
