What does "for the taking" mean?

Like "It's all yours for the taking" or "world for the taking". What doest it mean? Thank you very much in advance.
 
It is basically like saying "It's all open and available to you, all you need to do is go over and take it."

A similar phrase is "It's yours for the asking". This means you just have to ask for it and it's yours.
