I have to use the past simple, past perfect or past continuous in the gaps below.

Hi, Julio, and welcome to the forum. :hi:

Your teacher wants to know what you know, not what people here in the forum know. Please use what you've learned in class to fill out the worksheet. You're welcome to come back and ask for help understanding your teacher's comments after you've handed in the assignment.

Is the information in your profile correct?

Yes, the information in my profile is correct.

It’s not an assignment, it’s revision for a test.

Your image link doesn't work, JulioC11.

You will have to type out all the sentences yourself and post again.

1. had lived
2. took
3. had been
4. wanted
5. had passed
6. disagreed
7. didn’t pass
8. left
9. became

my answers as posted above

1. had lived :cross:
2. took :tick:
3. had been :cross:
4. wanted :tick:
5. had passed :cross:
6. disagreed :tick:
7. didn’t pass :cross:
8. left :tick:
9. became :cross:

My answers [STRIKE]as posted[/STRIKE] are above.

You got 4 right and 5 wrong. Have another try at the ones you got wrong. Please type out the complete sentences in your next post as it's really fiddly to read your answers and keep scrolling back to the post with the screenshot in.

Note my corrections to your closing sentence. You must start every new sentence with a capital letter and end every sentence with one appropriate punctuation mark.

Thank you!

I know the first mistake should be in the past simple. It’s lived.

3. When he was 18, he was told his father would get him a car if he passed the test.

4, 5 and 6. He wanted to have the car before he passed the test but his father disagreed.

7 and 8. He still hadn’t passed and then he left home to work in another province.

9. He had become a grandfather but his father still has not bought him a car.

I know the first mistake should be in the past simple. It’s lived.

No, you need past continuous there. You've probably learned that we use past continuous to talk about the situation in which something happened. The situation here is that he was living in Asir.

3. When he was 18, he was told his father would get him a car if he passed the test. :tick:

4, 5 and 6. He wanted to have the car before he passed the test but his father disagreed. :tick:

7 and 8. He still hadn’t passed and then he left home to work in another province. :tick:

9. He had become a grandfather but his father still has not bought him a car. :tick:

Well done.
