What are imperative sentences and how can I make passive voice of imperative sentences

Examples of imperative sentences in Hindi:

to a taxi driver

"Rok dijhe" = "stop here"

or to a servant

"pani lao" = "bring me water"

I am hoping that both my examples have become very old-fashioned since I first learned them forty years ago.

It is a command. It tells someone what to do. The word "you" is not spoken but is understood:

(You) Stop the car.
(You) Be quiet.
(You) Eat your vegetables.

The "you" can be either singular or plural.

Please note my corrections to your post.

manishmodi, your question should end with a question mark.

Why do you want to make everything passive?

I think 'imperative' and 'passive' do not go together. How can you issue a passive command?

not a teacher

That's right. A command is not passive.

Yes, that's a good point. However, various grammar sites cover this.

"Bring it here" -> "Let it be brought here."
I understand the objection though. The main subject and verb is still active "[You] bring ..." or "[You] let ...", and it's rest of the sentence that is passive. Although when God said, "Let there be light", I'm not sure who he was addressing.

I have again merged two threads on the same topic.

- Do NOT ask the same question twice. It is a waste of people's time.

If you have a question after someone has answered your question, you can reply IN THE SAME THREAD!

If you continue to ask the same question twice, your threads may be deleted and you may be placed in moderation.
