Hello.I am a student studying for a degree in Translation and Interpreting.I am currently in the first year of the career.
I would like you to consider this sentence:
"Instead of that, he makes you a present"
When "he" is preceded by a pause, is it that we pronounce [hi] or do we remove the glottal and pronounce ?
In other words:
| ɪnˈsted əv ðæt | hi meɪ̆ks ju ə ˈpʰr̊eznt
or
| ɪnˈsted əv ðæt | i meɪ̆ks ju ə ˈpʰr̊eznt
Personally, I would not be able to pronounce it without the glottal. But so far I have not been able to find any answer to this problem.
I am looking forward to hearing from you
Ernesto
