Hi,

Let's say that my sister comes into my room to tell me something and I say:

1- 'Is there anything else you want to talk about? I was almost sleeping here.'
2- 'Is there anything else you want to talk about? I almost slept here.'

Should I use the past cont. or simple with 'almost' in that situation?

Thanks.

I'd say 'I was nearly asleep', but 'I was almost asleep' is OK.

Number 2 is not possible. Number 1 is OK in some regional varieties of American English but it's not natural to most Anglophones.
