The first says that the charity raised very little money. Yours doesn't say that. Whether your answer is correct or not depends on how the questioner understands 'similar'. I would have to mark you correct, because "similar meaning" doesn't mean "the same meaning" - although I think that having to write a new sentence with same meaning would be a better exercise; and perhaps that's what is meant.
