These days I am studying grammar rule about "Using would to express a repeated action in the past".

This is an example of my grammar book, English Grammar Betty S. Azar.

Now, I want to know if we can add "would" before stepped or not, because "stepping on a plane" is a repeated action when "I" wanted to fly. However, in the book it was not considered as a repeated action.

"I used to be afraid of flying. My heart would start pounding every time I stepped on a plane. However, now I am used to flying end enjoy it."

Your use of "would" in that specific context works.

Thanks Emsr2d2 for your comment, but I didn't what you said. Sorry. Did you mean we can use "would step" too?

Note my correction. Always mark words that you're discussing by setting them in italics or surrounding them with quotation marks.

No, you definitely can't put "would" after "step" as you suggested in post 1. I was simply stating that "my heart would start pounding" was fine. If you are suggesting saying "My heart would start pounding every time I would step on a plane" ("would" before "stepped", not "would" after "step" as you originally said), then no, you can't.
