I'm am going to try and teach a pupil I'm tutoring about using the second conditional for giving advice i.e.

If I were you,I'd(or I would/would not) .............

I want to use some concept questions to help me know if the pupil has understood.

Does the following sound OK?:

is the person speaking giving advice to someone else?

can anybody think of any other questions to check understanding?

Thanks.I appreciate your help.

You could check whether the learner thinks the speaker is going to do what they say.

This is a great book for helping you to present particular grammar points, if you can find a copy.
