i can't understand the meanings of phrases: "take its toll from" and "take its toll on".
please help me!!!
Can you post the sentence/paragraph where you found "take its toll from"? I've never heard this.
"To take its toll on" means to have a tiring, negative or debilitating effect on someone.
"Working the nightshift for ten years has really taken its toll on my health."
