Am I using "give us sense" correctly ?

the distribution of landslides gives us sense that
most of the landslides coincide with certain rock.

"give us a sense".
This is correct, but I wouldn't use it in this particular example. The distribution of landslides as an indication that a certain type of rock is involved sounds too scientific to be called "a sense" of something.

does " rock is involved " mean < related rock > or < rock concerned> ?

We found that a specific type of rock was involved in the landslides.
We found that a specific type of rock was concerned.
(Not as good in this case, but it generally means a similar thing).
We found that the landslides were related to this specific type of rock.
The occurrence of landslides correlates positively with this type of rock.
