I have a problem on using the word "Respectively", can someone help me?

Meaning:
I received a claim letter on 1st Jan 2010. The claim amount is $500.00
I received another claim letter on 2nd Jan 2010. The claim amount is $400.00

Can I combine the sentences like this:
The claim amount of the letter received on 1st Jan 2010 and 2nd Jan 2010 is $500.00 and $400.00 respectively.

If it is incorrect, please tell me the correct answer.

Thank you.
