Which one of the sentences I've written is correct?
a. All of those soldiers were tortured until dead;
b. All of those soldiers were tortured until were dead;
c. All of those soldiers were tortured until they were dead.

Sentences a and c are grammatical but not very natural.

Sentence b isn't grammatical.

I'd expect "All [of] those soldiers were tortured to death/till they died".

Why are those grammatical, but b isn't?

Sentence b wasn't grammatical because you omitted the pronoun "they" (and failed to end the sentence with a full stop).
Is it natural to say “Sentence b isn’t grammatical….”? If “is” is correct, are “wasn’t and “isn’t optional?
