unconvulsive??

Hi, my dear intelligent friends. Could you propose another synonym for "unconvulsive"? One that would not contradict to "hurried." Given the context, I am more inclined to use "smooth."
Here is the sentence:
"A rough gash was made, and a wire hastily brought in contact; when the patient, with a hurried, but quite unconvulsive movement, arose from the table, stepped into the middle of the floor, gazed about him uneasily for a few seconds, and then — spoke." (http://poestories.com/read/premature)

Hm.

Smooth seems to be as good a word as any!

Another possibility is "fluid".
 
Perhaps also 'deliberate' or 'intentional' would work.
 
It doesn't quite get at it. I like the fluid suggestion.
